Grandpa John Vold's sister Gina Johansdatter and Grandma Johane Vold's brother in-law Hans Rundtom
An unusually large number of ours have residents passed way this early winter especially in the nursing
home. Among these was Gina Johansen. She reached the age of 94 1/2 and was the village’s oldest
resident. The last few years she has lived in the nursing home. Otherwise she has been in service many
places during her long life. Her longest service was at the minister’s farm, partly working for the minister
and partly for the operator of the farm.
Gina was loyal and trustworthy, a warm person, and always friendly and caring. She was, of course, held
dear by all and she was always considered a member of the family wherever she served. They hold her
memory close.
Another who died is Hans Rundtorm. He reached the age of 71. From his youth he was a tenant farmer for around 30 years, most recently he paid for the home with cash. His son
Gunnvald bought the tenant farm six years ago
Hans and his wife Ida moved to their daughter Auslaug and the son-in-law Sverre Tråseth ) at
Østvang which was bought from the minister’s farm. Here Hans and the son-in-law
cultivated the land (they broke the land) and completed work that gained everyone’s respect.
Hans Rundtorm was one of the kind for whom work was easy and he was always cheerful and in a
good mood. His wife was bedridden a long time before she died but he nursed her and never left her. It
was a sad time, but no one could see it on him. He surely had looked forward to living longer, but it was
not to be. An usually large crowd came to his funeral. Peace be with him.

Hi Ray
I see Jean located your people in the Norway Census.

Some interesting links:
http://snipurl.com/3u4u - Wisconsin Lookup Volunteers
(Obits, ….) by county; or use RAOGK.org to locate not
only the county in which Hale is, but also other
volunteers)

Also have you located them in the US or Wisconsin
census?
Here are some US census info:

Subject: My Great Grandfather John Olsen
Hello Listers
I am looking for help. I have recently been told that
John Olsen Lodshaugen also known as John Olsen Rodum
came to America. My Grandfather John Johansen Vold
came in 1884 and his brother came in 1883. Supposedly
later my Great Grandfather came He was taken ill and
died in Town of Hale, Wisconsin. We believe that he
was buried in the Hale Cemetery but there are not
records. I am wondering if any body can locate ship
records or other records that could prove this.

He was born November 27, 1820 in Oppland, Norway. He
was the son of Ole Pederson Houm and Anne Johansdatter
Restadstuen. He married Marthe Jensdatter June 18,
1847 in Gausdal.She was born December 1, 1823 He
appears in the 1860 and 1875 censuses. In 1900 he
cannot be found also his wife cannot be found. Their
children were John (my grandfather) born 1858 in
Gausdal as were the following children:
Ida born July 21, 1853
Gina born April 17, 1856
Hans born September 27, 1860
Sina born Born August 6, 1850
Anne born January 18, 1848
Ole born March 14, 1864 and died March 23, 1864 in
Gausdal
Ole born 1865 and died 1865 and Amund born 1865
(twins) Ole Johansen born October 13, 1868 and died
1876 in Gausdal

Hans and John came to America.
Sina moved to Vestre Toten October 10, 1877 and Ida
moved to Vestre Toten May 13, 1878. My grandfather
John Johansen came to America as Vold but was listed
on the ships manifest as Wold. Hans may have used the
same spelling.

Later see other We found that Johan Lodshaugen Rodum came to America as Johan Storhaugen
